Huacachina Oasis

Look at the back of a single 50 bill and you will see a beautiful lagoon. Did you know that you can visit the beautiful scenery in person? Just a few hours south of Lima, a trip to the Nazca lines, Huacachina is a small village built around Peru in the desert oasis of beautiful nature. Once a playground for the elite of Peru, the resort is now ruled by tourists looking to relax and get a vibration in the surrounding sand dunes. The city is centered around a small lagoon that is fed by natural spring water and framed by green leafy trees.

Legend has it that Huacachina is created when a beautiful girl wandering in the desert near his home, holding a mirror. When he picked up a mirror to his face he realized he was watching her from behind. Mirror stunned he dropped them and turned to water. Here is where the legend will be blurred, both girls fled the scene and the hills that surround the hair creates an oasis or she is still alive as a mermaid in the lagoon.
